INTRODUCTION
The word thanksgiving is a popular term in Christendom and it is something we have all involved in religiously. However, the truth is that there is more to thanksgiving than many of us are aware of. Thanksgiving is in fact not an occasional religious activity, but it is God’s recommended lifestyle for His children! This implies that Christian life is supposed to be that of gratitude to God through Jesus Christ; always giving thanks to Him for all things (good and bad) and in everything (in all situations and circumstances) and for all men (Philippians 4:6; Colossians 3:15-17; Ephesians 5:4; 1; Thessalonians 5:18; 2 Timothy 2:1; Ephesians 5:20).
A lifestyle of thanksgiving has been God’s eternal demand from His children according to the Scriptural charges on them both in the Old and the New Testament. A lifestyle of thanksgiving is one that gives thanks to God in the good times as well as in the bad times, all day long, day in and day out, in all our words, actions, and deeds. A lifestyle of thanksgiving is a life of deep faith in God! It is a God-centered, victorious, contented, peaceful and joyous life devoid of all fear, worries, and worldly cares. This is God’s recommended lifestyle for the believers in Christ Jesus, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). This is God’s Kingdom lifestyle and it is the best lifestyle anyone could live.
A critical study of the Scripture reveals that our Lord Jesus actually lived a lifestyle of thanksgiving! All other notable men and women of faith in the like of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Hannah, King David, King Solomon, King Hezekiah, Daniel, and Apostle Paul just to mention a few, lived lifestyles of thanksgiving to God and they all had great victories and testimonies!
The gains and importance of this lifestyle are enormous. However, until one gets involved one can never fully know or understand its significance. So get this knowledge here. Did God not say in His word that “Therefore my people have gone into captivity because they have no knowledge; Their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.” (Isaiah 5:13).
A LIFESTYLE OF THANKSGIVING SERIES is yet another encouragement series from this blog to help individuals live a victorious and fulfilled Christian life. READ AND BE BLESSED.
